Bennett got up at 2:00 a.m. and went duck hunting with Bob, Scott and Mason at Shelbyville which is about 2 hours away. He had a great time. It’s youth season and him and Mason got five ducks total. The Red Head is an unusual duck that is hard to find and they got three. Also, a blue teel and shoveler. There was a duck flying by and Bennett looked up and shot and got it! I think everyone including Bennett was surprised.
Duck Hunting is his favorite type of hunting. He has been practicing all summer his duck calls and he really does sound like a duck!

Bennett’s ANC today was 1,920 from 3,465 two weeks ago. His WBC is 3.0 from 4.5 and neutrophils are 64 from 77. His hemoglobin is 13.4 from 12.0 and platelets dropped to 169 from 212. We went to get his blood work today after church instead of going yesterday. It really helps to go on the weekend instead of going so early before work and school on Monday morning. We’re thankful his counts are good!!
Yesterday morning, Bennett went to varsity football practice. He lifted some weights and ran a mile with the team. And the best news is that his ankle held up and didn’t swell or have any pain. Praising God for answered prayers!!
Hamilton had a game yesterday against Johnson County on the high school field. We won by 2 points! Hamilton played Great along with the team, it was a lot of Fun!
Below are a few pics: #42 “Hambone”

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
It’s been a busy week but the boys are enjoying their last weeks at home before school starts.
Yesterday the boys went fishing with Gpa/ma J at the pond. Bennett caught a nice bass and Hamilton caught a couple cat fish.
Hamilton has had a vacation bible school this week which has made the week go by so fast.
Bennett hung out with a friend today playing xbox at his house. And they went to the varsity football camp this evening. It was from 5 to 8 than he came home and went to bed fairly early.
He has been walking on his ankle all the time for about 3 days now. We looked at his ankle last night and tonight and it does look a little swollen. Very discouraging! We’re not getting too excited yet and we’ll keep an eye on it and see if it worsens. So far, it is not causing any pain which is good. We ask and pray to God to heal his ankle and strengthen his bones.
“Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.” Luke 3:8
“Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek Him. Remember the wonders He has performed, His miracles and the rulings He has given.” Psalm 105:4-5
Bennett is doing fair. I called his oncology Dr. today to confirm what we heard yesterday. She said that yes he had a stress fracture and that he needed to stay off of it completely. He needs rest. She wants him to use crutches and not to put any weight on that foot. I asked how long and she said at least two (2) weeks. ?? This doesn’t seem long enough from what I have been reading on stress fractures. The only thing that is going to make it heal, is staying off of it.
He does not need a cast nor a boot but to wrap it with a ace bandage or to wear his ankle braces. She is not going to talk to an orthopedic Dr. she indicated that they wouldn’t be able to do anything different.
Bennett was really miserable last night so I asked about different pain medicine. She indicated he could take tylenol, advil, or ibuprofen but just periodically. He doesn’t need tylenol too often because it can mask a fever and ibuprofen decreases platelet count. Also, he needed to try to keep it elevated as much as possible. Bennett did say that it felt some better.
I asked his Dr. about getting counts again and we will go tomorrow to our local hospital for those in the morning. We pray his ANC is in safe range and high enough to begin chemo. And all other counts are good.
He went to his team’s baseball game tonight and sat in the dugout. He didn’t dress but wanted to go and be with the team. They won.
We hope to find out results tomorrow from the bone marrow biopsy. We pray for a clean healthy result, May God hear our prayers and bless Bennett by keeping him in remission forever and ever!
“We ask God to give you a complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit.” Colossians 1:9-10
This song, “The Climb” is by Miley Cyrus. Bennett and I listened to it several times today. It’s beautiful!
Here is to one more mountain that Bennett is going to MOVE! Keeping the faith and keep on CLIMBING!
Here are the lyrics:
The Climb by Miley Cyrus
I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying
“You’ll never reach it”
Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb
The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
‘Cause there’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!
There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody’s gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!
Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It’s all about, it’s all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa
