July 4th update

Happy 4th of July! Bennett is doing good! No fever, no headache, and no other new problems! He is being discharged today, they want him to get his iv meds first before we leave. He couldn’t sleep last night because of the caffeine dose he had in the afternoon, it was around 2:00 a.m.

His ANC today is 1,232 from 1,456 from two days ago. His WBC went down to 2.1 from 2.6 and neutrophils are 58 from 56. His hemoglobin is 11.5 from 11.8 and platelets are 116 from 133. Dr. indicated that his fever has probably dropped his counts. She is not going to start him back on his chemo pills until we see what his counts are on Monday. We pray they jump up!

We’re thankful that this was a short hospital stay and we will be home tonight to celebrate the holiday with our family, God is Good!

We made it home in the pouring rain around 2:00 p.m. Bennett is still doing good. We just hung around home this evening, watched a movie, and lite a few fireworks.

He finished his last dose of steroids today until next month! So far the blood cultures they took on Thursday have been negative. We are so thankful that this recent episode didn’t turn out any worse but disappointed it hadn’t been too long since his last hospital stay. The Dr. in the ER looked at his chart and couldn’t believe everything he has been through already this year, she teased him that he has frequent flier miles there.

Thank you for your comments, prayers and support!

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Proverbs 17:23

Glad to hear that you are heading home today. It’s not a very nice day out here, rainy, kind of chilly, but it is supposed to clear off later. Travel safely and have a Happy 4th!
