January 22nd update

O.K.; are you ready? ……………………………………………………………….

Bennett’s ANC today was 2,907!  We were so hoping for this! Our estimation is that he should have good counts again on Monday when we check them again before he begins the next phase on Tuesday. We really would like his ANC to start off high for this next phase.

The next phase he starts is the same phase he did in May/June and Sept/Oct. After he finished the two months of treatment, his ANC went below 500 for about a month plus he ended up in the hospital for dehydration in July and for a fever the end of Oct. The only difference in this phase is that he has to have cranial radiation at the same time as the chemotherapy around the end of Feb.  Not sure how this will affect him.    So we already know what we are in for, some hard times ahead closer to the end of this treatment. More transfusions, very low counts, not feeling well, and possible chance of a hospital stay. It will be OK though, we know he has to finish this to move on to maintenance!

We are so thankful that he will have another week of being able to attend school and going to ball games or wherever he wants to go. Well, maybe not anywhere? LOL

His hemoglobin was 9.3, normal starts at 12.5 so still low but not low enough for a transfusion. Platelets are in normal range at 166.

Thank you for all your prayers as God has answered another one for us!! Blessed be to God!

P.S. Bennett won at miniature golf! He had 3 – hole in ones!

Hello gang! Been reading the journey and smiling at my angel :) Have a great week at school, Bennett! Things I think about lately include how humbling it is to be a part of brave peoples lives such as yours. I think it is interesting that God chooses to use you so mightily and I get to be a part of that. We were reading about the heart today and I am constantly reminded of our calling to be full of mercy and faithfulness. I see time and again in the midst of the sorrow or stress (in the squeeze mode) that the juice flowing from you is full of grace. What a blessing!

smiling as I think of you! Bennett, give your mom a kiss as she gives you a humongo hug! Have a happy and warm day!

Hey, glad your ANC is up. I will continue to pray for you as you start this next phase of treatment. Ryan has been looking for some camps that the two of you might be able to go to this summer. One is for you and a friend to go to and he thought that might be fun for you and him to take a friend to. We are getting information sent to us. Your favorite cute nurse is working tonight. Stop by to see us next time you are in clinic we will probably be here.

Awesome ANC!!!! Thank you God! Praying for you as you begin this phase-the unknown is always more scary. I know you are going to lick this as you have already showed us that. May God supply all of your needs as he promises us He will if we ask. Enjoy this week! Love ya
