December 28th update

We went to SLCH outpatient lab for Bennett’s CBC test and his ANC is down from 319 to 228 which is disappointing. Hemoglobin and platelets are good at 9.7 and 250. I am starting to wonder of why his bone marrow is making white blood cells. His nurse wants him to go Monday for another CBC at our local hospital to see if his counts maybe coming up and we will decide from there. She thought that his primary oncologist Dr. might want to see him on Wednesday. His ANC has to be at 750 to continue chemotherapy. His last treatment was 14 days ago. He has been delayed 2 weeks. We don’t like waiting and that he is not receiving any chemotherapy.

It broke my heart today in the lab, we were waiting for Bennett’s test and a little girl stood right in front of Bennett staring at him for several minutes. As she walking she still kept staring. Bennett became pretty aggravated and said she thinks I am a monster. I told him if he would take off his hoody she wouldn’t think that, never mind that he was wearing a mask. He is so conscious about wearing a mask and it doesn’t help when people stare at him. The parents didn’t even notice and the girl was too young to understand but it doesn’t make it any easier for Bennett. This happens regularly to him unfortunately.

We are thanking God for no fevers. We enjoy being home so much more than being in the hospital. We love the nurses but the walls and curtains start closing in after a day or so.

We had Awesome news today about our dear friend Ethan that is 4 years old, His bone marrow test was clear this time! Amen! We LOVE good news and praise God!

“Although our believing will get results, we must have patience, faith and perseverance. This is why King David said, “Submit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass”. (Psalms 37:5)

Hey Bennett, about the mask thing. Do you have those at your house or do you get them from the Dr. office? Here is an idea, decorate them with stickers or do some free advertising. If you can write on them that would be easy. Or comics, anything to cover it up or make those kids laugh instead of stare. Let me know if you do that and take a pic. http://www.anysoldier.com would love free ads, a good site for soldiers. Thinking of you all. happy 2008. hugs and kisses Jayna Kay Hart

Happy New Year Bennett and family!
I am so thankful your counts have gone up. I hope they continue to rise. I was thinking about your problem with people staring at you in your mask and I also have a suggestion and it just might make you a little famous. Do you ever watch the show” I caught”? I believe it is on ABC. They have a segment on the show where people submit 3 words in unique ways. Maybe you should write 3 words that explain your situation on your mask and send it in to the show. I have never seen it on a mask before. I have seen it on fingers, toes, chests, tummy, and faces but never on a mask. If your feelings are displayed on national TV, maybe people would consider your sensitivity to your situation. Oh well, just a thought! Hang in there.
