February 28th update

Bennett had a pretty good day on Wednesday. He had his treatment, a vitamin K shot to thicken his blood to make sure he doesn’t have blood leaking more from his port. His Dad and Hamilton went up there and had a great day. Jim and RuthAnn brought Landon, Thomas, Trey and Mason. Also, Brittani Shurtz is in the same hospital on another floor and Bennett went down to see her. He has to wear a mask if he leaves his room.

Friday is a big day, another bone marrow test to check on blast cells in the bone marrow. He will also have another preventative chemo treatment that is put in his spine through a spinal tap. He will be put to sleep for both of these. Also he will have another chemo treatment through an IV.

    Cindy & Bennett,
Thanks so much for the updates. I’m sure you get tired of re-telling everyone everything, huh? Everyone here cares for you guys and your family so much. I think you know we would all do anything for you-just say the word and it is done.

Please let me know if there’s anything I can do.

Trud, Thank you so much for your support. You have been a big help already. Thanks for the card, gift and the basketball pic of Hamilton. Looks like they had a big time at their game Sunday. I missing watching him play. On Saturday at the Jamboree please take more pic for me! Sid has the order form to order pics. Jim L brought up a video tape that he recorded the BHS regional game plus Hamilton’s tourney. Bennett and I both enjoyed it.

Hope G can come home with Hamilton on Sat after the games and play for awhile.

Sid and Ham are coming back up on Sunday.

I’ll probably call u Friday, another big day with a bone marrow test, spinal tab with protection kemo put in spine to keep possible hidden blasts also they are going to re-access his port to clean.

thanks very much! Love you, your Gradeschool & Highschool cheerleader!

    Your

    Bennett,

We are so glad you had a good day yesterday. We have been wondering how your treatments have been going. Sounds like you are being a real trooper as I knew you would. You are a strong young man Bennett and I know you will knock this leukemia right out of the park. (wink) Just like those homeruns your mom was talking about and you have her right there by your side when you need that extra coaching to keep the bat up. You are a very lucky young man to have such wonderful parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all think the world of you.

Good luck with tomorrow, sounds like you have a big day. We will be thinking about you and praying everything goes smoothly for you. Keep your chin up and if there is anything we can do to help out in anyway, we are just a phone call away. Wishing you a smooth tomorrow! Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers!
    Big Hugs to the Pages!
    Lots of Love,
    Roger, Tami & Abbie

    Cindy,
It’s funny you mention the grade school cheerleading days. I was thinking if I put our cheerleading picture on here you wouldn’t have to worry about mice in the hospital room, because they would be running for the hills-haha. What a hoot.
I’ll take more pics on Saturday and I’m sure G will want to go play with Ham. Take care and know that you are in my constant thoughts and prayers.

Hope your tap goes well! Dont worry… you will be done with those soon.THey are horrible, but i think the bone marrow is worst than the spinal. Sounds like you have a good doctor! Thats awesome that brittinis there! Gives you someone to talk to that has been through soo much. Keep your fingers crossed and maybe all the blasts will be gone tomorrow!
